Grade Scale
The Grade Scale does not follow the outdated traditional scale (100-90%=A; 89-80%=B; etc.). It is based on 4 levels and all work will be evaluated on these 4 levels. Please see the Standards Sheets for the criteria of these levels.
Because of the 4 levels, there is a possibility of a student earning a 4, 3, 2, 1 or 0 on each assignment. Therefore, the grade breakdown will be as follows:

2.34-2.49	C+	2 - Basic	59% - 62%
2.17-2.33	C	2 - Basic	55% - 58%
2.00-2.16	C-	2 - Basic	50% - 54%
1.76-1.99	D+	1- Below Basic	44% - 49%
1.26-1.75	D	1- Below Basic	32% - 43%
1.00-1.25	D-	1- Below Basic	25% - 31%
0.10-0.99	F	<1 - Far Below Basic	<25%

There will be multiple ways to view your individual grade book as well as customize it with categories, etc. The above table will be how we report grades to students and parents and cannot be easily modified for each teacher.

You'll perceive that a 50% seems like an F, but if you notice the possible levels, the student has earned 2 out of 4 which means s/he has demonstrated basic understanding of the material, thus, 50% is a C. If you have questions about this scale, please contact me.

Accessing Student Grades online:
With Illuminate Ed, you are able to see grades, discipline records, and attendance information online.
I STRONGLY encourage students/parent/guardians to check grades/assignments/progress frequently. There are some issues with this program but if you stay up to date and communicate with your teachers, this is a very effective way to stay focused.
