Materials:
Coal (black, chunky rock), obsidian (black, shiny,
sharp rock), andesite (grey, rough rock), ice (H2O(s)),
water (H2O(l)),
iron ([Fe] - nail), block of wood (the wood does NOT get
wet), cork (do NOT put the cork in graduated cylinder), 100mL
beaker, 250mL beaker, 50 mL graduated cylinder, 10mL graduated
cylinder, pipette, meter stick (metric ruler).
Predict: Which of the items are the most dense/least dense? (List the items in order of most dense to least dense)

Questions to think about before writing your
Conclusion:
*What is density and what does density tell you?
*What did you find out about the density of water (H2O(l))
and how do the rest of the objects compare to water's density?
*What can this information tell you about whether the object
will float or sink?
