Solar System Size
Materials:
 Meter stick, sidewalk chalk

Predict:
How big is the Earth compared to the Sun and other planets? How far is the Earth from the Sun compared to other planets?

Procedure:
Use the planet information here (info from NASA) to create a data table to represent a scale solar system. Once you have the actual data for "distance from the Sun" and "diameter", you can use the scale (1 cm = 100,000 km) to convert the NASA measurements into a chart that we can use to measure our scale model outside (Sun has been done for you). You will have two charts: one with actual distances and diameters and one in cm with the scale 1cm = 100,000km
Using chalk and the meter stick, measure the distances and sizes of the solar system bodies outside. (we will start at Burgess and Bellevue)

Questions to think about before writing your Conclusion:
•How does the data compare to your hypothesis?
•What is in between all of the matter in the solar system?
